The History of St. John's School
On May 30, 1886, a historic meeting took place. That day 20 men gathered and prayerfully decided to organize a congregation in La Grange. Louis Sieling gave part of his farmland to build a combination schoolhouse and church on the corner of 47th and Brainard. The building was dedicated to God’s glory a few months later in September.
After 25 years, the school had outgrown the schoolhouse. In 1911, St. John’s purchased the Northside Public School at Ogden and Kensington. The building served the congregation well for 44 years, not only as classroom space, but also as an ideal meeting place.
In 1950 Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Wesemann donated two lots on Brainard. Additional property was purchased on Park Road. This land was used to build a Christian Day school and parish-education building. The building was dedicated in October 1955 and by God’s grace has continued to function as our current school.

St. John’s is accredited by the NLSA and is recognized as an accredited private school by the Illinois State Board of Education.
